The Messiah Would End Wars

This is quote from the Lahori English version of the book,  British Government and Jihad. I have only added the brackets to indicate who the translator is. The original text can be viewed here.

About two hundred years after the Holy Prophet Muhammad passed away, his words and deeds, called hadith (pl. ahadith), were compiled into books by different people. One collection regarded as most authentic is the one mentioned here. The difficulty is that there are slight differences in the words the Holy Prophet is supposed to have uttered on the same occasion. These differences arise because the words are reported by different narrators. The words reported here is one example. In many compilations of Bukhari the words “abolish war” do not occur. Instead, the words “abolish jizyah” are found. This has given rise to the objection against the Promised Messiah that he misquoted the Holy Prophet (s). However, Maulana Maudoodi, an opponent of the Ahmadiyya Movement, in his book Finality of Prophethood quotes this hadith in the chapter “Traditions Relating to the Descent of Christ, Son of Mary”. He says:

“Hadrat Abu Huraira reports that the Prophet (PBUH) of God said: ‘I swear by Him Who hath power over my life, the son of Mary shall descend among ye as a Just ruler. He will break the cross and kill the swine and he will put an end to war.’ (Bukhari, Kitab Ahadith al-Anbiya; Bab: Nuzul ‘Isa Ibn Maryam; Muslim, Bab: Bayan Nuzul ‘Isa; Tirmidhi, Abwab-al-Fitan; Bab Fi Nuzul ‘Isa; Musnad Ahmad, Marwiyat Abu Huraira.) In another tradition the word jizya has been substituted for harb, ‘war’, i.e., he will abolish the jizya on non-believers.”

We also display here the scan of an edition of Sahih Bukhari printed in Cairo where the version saying war occurs. First we show the information on the title page of this edition:

I also found this quote:

عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال يوشك من عاش منكم أن يلقى عيسى ابن مريم إماما مهديا وحكما عدلا

فيكسر الصليب ويقتل الخنزير ويضع الجزية ويضع الحرب أو ا زرها
“Abū Hurayrah (radiAllahu ‘anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallAllāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: ‘Whosoever from amongst you that is living when ‘Īsa (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary) arrives (yalaqā), (he is) the Imām Mahdī and Hakam ‘Adil (Just Arbiter), (he will) then break the cross (yaksaru al-Salīb) and kill the swine (yaqtalu al-Khinzīr) and put Jizyah (yada’ al-Jizyah) and war (yada’ al-Harb) to an end (awzāruhā).’” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadīth #9002)

The person who wrote the blog explained the topic of ending wars:

– As far as yaḍaʿu’l-ḥarb / yaḍaʿu’l-jizya awzāruhā (ending war / end [the necessity for taking] Jizya) is concerned, the Promised Messiahas was a man of peace, to the extent that his final book written a day before his death was called “Message of Peace”, emphasizing what was already known as the Greater Jihād of the Nafs, or the Purification of the Soul.

The blog is very a good read overall and the source can be found here.
