Does the death of Isa(as) from Quran disprove the second coming?

Q:If it is proven Isa(as) has died from the Quran doesn't that disprove the 2nd coming of isa(as) as the Quran trumps ahadith?

A:Yes, it disproves the second coming of that 'Isa (as) that has died, but it does not disprove the second coming of 'Isa (as) in the person of someone else, just as the death of Ilyas (as) did not disprove his second coming in the person of Yahya (as).

Everything the Holy Prophet (saw) said and prophesied was true and was going to become true. There is no doubt that the Holy Prophet (saw) said that 'Isa (as) was going to come a second time, as this hadith is mutawatir. 'Isa (as) died. It is in the Holy Qur'an. So: 'Isa (as) both died and was going to come a second time: This means that someone else had to come in his person, as dead people do not become alive again.

The ahadith about the second coming of 'Isa (as) have reached the status of tawatur, which means that it is almost as certain that this statement was uttered by the Holy Prophet (saw) as it is certain that the Qur'an was uttered by him. If there is any doubt that the Holy Prophet (saw) did not say this hadith, there is also doubt in the preservation of the Holy Qur'an.

Finally, it should be noted that while near 30 Quranic verses show that Isa(as) has died, his second coming is talked about in the Quran.

[9:33]

ENGLISH
He it is Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over every other religion, even though the idolaters may dislike it.

There are two similar versions of this ayah that are also found in the Quran:

[48:29]

ENGLISH
He it is Who has sent His Messenger, with guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may make it prevail over all other religions. And sufficient is Allah as a Witness.

And:

[61:10]

ENGLISH
He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it.

Someone uneducated may claim that these verses do not have to do with the future messiah but they would be wrong. Hadrat Musleh Ma'ud(ra) wrote regarding 9:33:

"....The promise that God would make Islam prevail over every other religion stands for all time. The promise was fulfilled when in its early history Islam triumphed over all peoples, including Christians and the fulfilment of this promise is going to be repeated in the present age, when God has raised the Promised Messiah, Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement, to serve and help the cause of Islam. This triumph is going to be complete and permanent. In fact, most commentators (e.g. Bayan), agree that the final and perfect fulfilment of this promise, as made in the present verse, is to take place at the time of the second advent of Jesus."

And regarding 61:10 he wrote:

Most commentators of the Quran are agreed that this verse applies to the Promised Messiah in whose time all religions will make their appearance and the superiority of Islam over all of them will be established.

This and the previous verse contain two very challenging prophecies, the present one about the establishment of the superiority of Islam over other Faiths and the preceding one about the total failure of the enemies of Islam to extinguish its light.

And regarding 48:28 he wrote:

In the preceding verse reference was made to the vision of the Holy Prophet which had brought about the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah which in turn led to the very rapid expansion of Islam in Arabia and to its consolidation, and ultimately to the Fall of Mecca and the submission of the whole of Arabia to the Holy Prophet. The present verse makes a very bold prophecy to the effect that not only would Islam prevail in Arabia but would also eventually triumph over all other religions. The signs of the fulfilment of this prophecy are already in evidence.

As Hadrat Mirza Bashirudeen Mahmud Ahmad(ra) cited Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn Jarīr al-Ṭabarī's view on 9:33 as an example, let's take a look at his tafsir of this ayah:

‘The time of which this verse speaks is appointed for the coming of Isa bin Maryam [i.e. his second coming].’ Tafsir Jami al-Bayan, vol. 29.
